Terms & Conditions

Here is the Taiwan Chinese Academy Terms and Conditions which follows the policy guidelines of the Education Department of Taipei City. Please read before you agree.

CHINESE COURSES

1.1       Group Chinese Courses include the Regular Course, Intensive Course, Evening Course, and Weekend Course. Private Courses include 1-on-1 Private Course, Group Private Course, and Online Courses. For start dates of courses, please refer to Taiwan Chinese Academy website: www.tcamandarin.com

1.2       Taiwan Chinese Academy reserves the right to change course arrangements with prior notice.

1.3       Student placement in any course is subject to Mandarin language proficiency. A placement test may be arranged at TCA or online via Zoom.

1.4       Students who complete a course level will receive a Certificate of Course Completion. This is subject to the students’ attendance rate, and students with an attendance lower than 90% may not receive a Certificate of Course Completion.

PAYMENT OF TUITION FEES

2.1       Course tuition fees must be paid prior to commencement to be enrolled in the course.

2.2       All Group Chinese Course related fees are calculated by full-terms or partial-terms. Partial-terms are calculated by a start date and end date with no breaks in between. Public holidays are not included in the tuition fee.

2.3       Taiwan Chinese Academy complies with Department of Education, Taipei City policy.

2.4       Students will not be enrolled until the full tuition fee is paid.


CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS

3.1       Full course cancellation by Taiwan Chinese Academy will result in a full refund.

3.2       Partial course cancellation by Taiwan Chinese Academy will result in rescheduling classes or the equivalent tuition refund of cancelled classes.

3.3       Classes will be cancelled on typhoon days following the policy of the Taipei City Government. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled or refunded.

3.4       Withdrawal by a student must be applied in writing. We follow the Ministry of Education Refund Policy:

  • 95% of tuition can be refunded 60 days before the start of class
  • 90% of tuition can be refunded 59 to 1 day(s) before the start of class.
  • 70% of tuition can be refunded before the second class.
  • 50% of tuition can be refunded after the second class and before 1/3 of the term has been completed.
  • No refunds can be given after 1/3 of the term has been completed.

3.5       Learning Material Fees such as textbooks are non-refundable.

3.6       Refunds will use the original method of payment. Students must sign a refund form provided by Taiwan Chinese Academy for the refund to be approved.

3.7       Students enrolled in a Private Course can notify Taiwan Chinese Academy by email (nihao@tcamandarin.com) or LINE (@tcamandarin) with at least 24 hours in advance notice to reschedule a class.

3.8       Private classes cannot be rescheduled with a notice within 24 hours.

ATTENDANCE AND BEHAVIOUR

4.1       Students agree to behave considerately. Taiwan Chinese Academy expects high standards of professionalism and behavior from both staff and students. Students are expected to respect all other students and staff of all cultures, religions, ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds. Bullying or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If a student does not comply with the rules and regulations, this may lead to a warning, or in serious cases, expulsion (termination of enrolment).

4.2       Students expelled from Taiwan Chinese Academy will receive a refund based on section 3.4 of the Terms and Conditions.
